- Hubert E. Swanson, Sr., 77, of Sanborn, NY, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at Northgate Health Care Facility in Wheatfield, NY. Born in Andalusia, AL, he was the son of the late Hubert W. and Stella (Lunsford) Swanson.
Hubert came to the Niagara Falls area as a child with his family and attended local schools. On March 31, 1966, he married Lilli Rae (Williams) Swanson. Mrs. Swanson predeceased him on January 14, 2023. Hubert was employed as a Millwright at Great Lakes Carbon in Niagara Falls, NY for over 35 years until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed watching Westerns, football, and was a movie buff. A man of many interests, Hubert also enjoyed Military History, aviation and planes, vintage cars, and was a skilled drawer. He was also an avid fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hubert is survived by his children, Becky (Dan) Smith, Hubert (Patty) Swanson, Jr., Dean (Jen) Swanson, Michael (Shani) Swanson and Brian (Jamie) Swanson; his siblings, William ‘Brad’ (Patricia) Swanson, James ‘Buster’ (Valerie) Swanson, half siblings, Gene (late Joanne) Swanson, Susan (Darrell) Woolery, as well as many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife of 56 years, he was predeceased by his daughter, Sheryl (late Kurt) Williams, and siblings, Marsha (late David) Moore, Molly Robertson, and half siblings, David (late Helen) Swanson and Hubert W. Swanson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29 from 12 – 1 PM at the Tuscarora Indian Mission Church, 5035 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132, where funeral services will begin at 1 PM.
