Mr. and Mrs. Louis Becker, of
Pierce avenue, announce the engagement
of their daughter, Verna,
to Mr. Burton Walsh, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Walsh, of Pierce
avenue. The wedding will take place
in the near future.

The marriage of Miss Verna
Elisabeth Becker, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Becker, of Pierce
avenue, to Mr. Burton Walsh, of
Pierce avenue, was solemnized at
3:46 o'olock Saturday, February 14.
In Zlon Lutheran church. The
Rev, Arthur Schinoyer performed
the ceremony before the candlelighted
altar decorated with
baskets of gladiolus.
The bride, who was given in marriage
by her father, was attired in
a gown of slipper satin fashioned
on princess lines, with a novelty
shirred bodice, long pointed sleeves
and sweetheart neckline. Her fingertip
veil of Illusion net with halo
effect was centered with a spray of
orange blossoms and she carried a
bouquet of white carnations. Her
only Jewelry was a heart-shaped
locket.
The maid of honor, Miss Irene
Becker, sister of the bride, wore a
colonial-styled gown of blue taffeta
with sweetheart neckline and a
headdress of pink flowers with
matching velvet streamers. She
carried red roses. The bridesmaid.
Miss Eleanor Schul, wore a gown
fashioned like that of the maid of
honor, in pink taffeta and with a
headdress of blue flowers with
matching velvet streamers. She carried
red roses.
Mr. Robert Read was best man
and the ushers were Mr. Roy Volker
and Mr. Jed White.
Before the ceremony Mr. Henry
Mess sang "Because" and "I Love
You Truly," accompanied by Mrs.
Nichols at the organ.
Mrs. Becker, mother of the
bride, wore a blue crushed velvet
dress with black accessories and a
corsage of sweet peas and yellow
daisies.
Mrs. Walsh, mother of the bridegroom,
wore a black crepe dress and
black and white accessories and a
corsage of sweet peas and yellow
daisies.
After the ceremony, dinner was
served at the Samovar at 4:30 for
the wedding party and the immediate
families and a reception from
6:30 to 8:30 at the home of the
bride's parents.
Pre-nuptials included a variety
shower by the co-workers of the
Carborundum company, a group
shower by Mrs. Frank Walsh, a red
and white kitchen shower by Miss
Irene Becker, a personal shower
by Mrs. Howard Benjamin and a
linen shower by Mrs. Albin Johnson.
At these showers she received
two bride's books, together with
many other beautiful gifts.
For her going-away costume the
ride chose a gabardine suit of
dusty rose with matching accessor-
ies.
