- Lynn W. Waterstrat, 82, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on March 27, 1935, the son of the late Walter and Lillian [Krebs] Waterstrat.
Lynn graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1953 and from SUNY at Morrisville and served in the US Army. He was a senior food inspector with the New York State Department of Agriculture for over 25 years before retiring. Lynn was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, an advisor for Junior Achievement and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, making home wine and Square and Round Dancing with the Harris Squares, Lock-City CurleyQ's and The Hick Dinkle dance clubs. Lynn is survived by his wife of 60 years Joan [Storey], one son Paul (Pam) Waterstrat, two daughters Kathy (Frank) Mazur and Beth Hershock, six grandchildren Sam and Melanie Hershock, Max and Evan Waterstrat, Greg and Sarah Mazur, a sister Louise (Roger) Metz, also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rodney Waterstrat. His family will be present on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 915 Oneida Street, Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Thomas R. Mason officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Parkinson Foundation or to Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda, NY.
