- Stanley Carl Hriczak Obituary
Stanley Carl Hriczak passed away on September 28 2024. Known to friends and family as Carl, he was the eldest son of Stanley and Estelle (Walasek). He was a varsity football player and graduate of Niagara Falls High School class of 1964.
Upon graduation, Carl was awarded a NROTC scholarship and attended Cornell University. He transferred to Niagara University where he graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude. Carl went on to receive a Master of Arts with a specialization in Soviet and Eastern European studies.
He continued his service in the Naval Reserves Defense Intelligence Agency, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander, until retirement in 1990. During his life he worked as a Social Studies teacher, McGraw Hill book salesman, and wedding photographer.
In 1979 he went back to NU earning a Bachelor's of Business Administration, then worked as a field auditor for the New York State Insurance Fund until retirement in 2012.
Carl enriched the lives of numerous young men as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Boy Scout Troop 849. A devout Roman Catholic, his faith was central to his life and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. His interests include a love of history, storytelling, reading, holidays with his family, athletics, and the outdoors.
In 1967 Carl married the love of his life Teresa (Urbaniak) and spent the next 57 years blissfully married to his best friend. Carl and Terri were a fixture on Goat Island, taking daily walks by the Falls. He was a hero to his two sons Carl and David.
He is preceded by his mother and father, sister Barbara (Vilardo), and brother-in-law Tom Urbaniak. He is survived by his wife Teresa, sons Carl and David (Melissa), brother David(Mary Frances) Hriczak, nephew Michael, nieces Maria and Alexis, sister-in-law Christine Urbaniak, and numerous beloved cousins. Carl brought out the best in all who knew him and joy to all who loved him.
Friends may call Thursday, October 3rd from 5-8PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 AM on Friday, October 4th at Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Burial following in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a Charity of one's choice.
