The total of 1956 deaths in
Niagara County outside the city
due to traffic accidents today stood
at five as the result of two fatalities
in separate accidents within the last
24 hours.
Killed yesterday were:
Walter P. Baer, 8, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis W. Baer, Baer Rd.,
Sanborn.
Mrs. August Tryloff, 79. of
Riddle Rd., Town of Royalton.
The Baer boy was killed instantly
in Lockport road, Town of
Wheatfield, while riding his bicycle
near his,,home-
Sheriffs' deputies
said the
driver of the car
which struck the
lad was George
Aukward, 34. of
149 80th St.,
this city. Aukward
was not
held.
Mrs. Tryloff
was fatally injured
in a collision
in Akron
road near Bunker Hill road, Town
of Lockport. FoUr other persons,
including Mrs. Tryloff's daughter,
were injured in the crash.
Car Skids 200 Feet
Sheriff's d e p u t i e s Rudolph
Zichm. Charles Sanford and William
Munch, who investigated the
Baer boy's death, said Aukward
told them he was driving east in
Lockport road when he saw two
boon bikes in front of him.
According to the driver, one of
the boys suddenly veered in front
of his vehicle. The deputies' report
said the car skidded 200 feet before
it came to a stop.
The boy's father hailed a passing
motorist and rushe3 his son to
Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital
but the lad was dead on arrival.
Death was caused by internal injuries.
The other bicyclist, Patrick
Gates. 6, of Lockport Rd., was not
injured.
Rites Thursday
Walter was a second grade student
at Wheatfield No. I annex
of Starpoint Central School. Besides
his. parents he is survived by
A brother. Richard Baer: grandparents.
Mrs. Walter G. Baer.
Shawnee, and Mr. And Mrs. Philip
Wcinheimcr. North Tonawanda,
and an aunt.
Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m. Thursday at the Pike Fu-
neral Home, Sanborn, with the
Rev. Richard Sova officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery.
