  Niagara Gazette - 6/10/1948 The body of S/Sgt. Harold D. Beckett, son of Mrs. Peaarl Beckett, 934 South avenue, will arrive at the New York Central railroad sta- tion at 8:56 a.m. tomorrow. He was killed in action in Burma on July 12, 1944. Born in Oswego, Sgt. Beckett came to Niagara Falls at the age of 15 and was employed at E. I. du Pont de Nemours and company for seven years, prior to his enlistment in the army on August 11, 1943. After training as a machine funner at Camp Van Dorn, Miss. he left for overseas duty on Apr. 23, 1944, arriving in India in May. He was then sent to Burma. Sgt. Beckett is survived by his mother, a brother, Glenn L. Beck- ett, and a sister, Mrs. John Werth, all of this city. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bell Funeral par- lor, with the Rev. George Keeling officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
