- Roy E. Ensminger Sr., 83, of Sunnydale Drive, Town of Niagara, died Thursday, June 18, 1992 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A native of Wheatfield, he was born August 14, 1908, to William and Anna (Berg) Ensminger. He a factory employment manager at the Columbus McKinnon Co. in Tonawanda for 10 years in the late 1930's and early 40's. Ensminger owned and operated R. E. Ensminger Groceries in Sanborn from 1946-1960. He was later employed as a salesman for Beecher Brothers in Sanborn, retiring in 1971. A charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club, and past noble grand of the Forest Lodge Odd Fellows, he was also president of the Church Council of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Tonawanda. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene (Scharlau) Ensminger of Niagara Falls; a son, Roy E. Ensminger Jr. of Pompano Beach, FL; a daughter; Sherry Werth of Sanborn; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Barbara Lois Kesterson and brother of the late Willis Ensminger, Frank Ensminger and Grace Ensminger. The Rev. E. Werner Weinrich conducted services Sunday with burial in the Wheatfield Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Rhoney Funeral, Home, Hoover Rd. Sanborn. Memorials may be made to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church North Tonawanda.
