- Donald J. Weinheimer of Pendleton, NY, 65, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, under the care of his family and the Visiting Nurses Association at Hospice House in Lockport, NY. He was born in Buffalo, NY, on January 2, 1954, the son of the late Edward F. and Elizabeth D. [Stowell] Weinheimer.
He graduated from Starpoint Central School in 1972 and Niagara County Community College in 1974 with an Associates Degree in drafting technology.
Mr. Weinheimer was employed by Mesch Engineering, of Lockport, for 7 years and then as a contract designer in the Engineering Department at the Dupont Co. chemical plant in Niagara Falls, for 36 years.
He was a member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company for the past 41 years, where he served as chairman of the bar and Bingo committees, Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer of the fire company. He was also Past Treasurer of the Shawnee Exempt Benevolent Assoc.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara [Miller] Weinheimer, three daughters Jennifer Weinheimer, LaRissa (Brandon) Mante and Lindsay (Matt) Moore, his beloved grandchildren Iris and Zander Mante, a brother David (Rebeca) Weinheimer, two sisters Carol (John) Pierce and Ann (David) Martinez, nephews Richard (Heather) Reinard, Jeffrey (Kelly) Reinard, nieces Mary Beth (Ian) Kesterson and Tina Weinheimer and was brother-in- law of Keith Miller and Maureen (Jody) Hand.
There will be no prior visitation.
Memorial Services will held on Friday, November 22 at 5PM at the Shawnee Vol. Fire Co., 3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn, NY. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
The family would like to thank Dr. Edgar Bassig of Crystal Springs Medical and Dr. Tomas Holmlund of the Dent Neurological Group, Niagara Hospice and all the caregivers from the VNA Association for all their help and care.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in his name can be made to Heart, Love & Soul of Niagara Falls, NY, Niagara Hospice, ALS Association or the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co.
