- Glen Earl Hewitt, 58, of Lewiston, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on December 14, 1950 in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of the late Donald and Betty (Keppen) Hewitt.Glen grew up on Upper Mountain Road in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in 1969. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and just being in the woods. Glen shot his first buck at the age of 17. He especially loved hunting with his dad and his Uncle Al, and many fishing expeditions with his family to Buckhorn, Ontario.Glen had a lifelong fascination for anything that had an engine and was skilled in repairing just about everything. His talents also included, carpentry, plumbing, electrical; a true jack-of-all-trades. Countless family, friends and neighbors were blessed by his many skills. His irreplaceable experience and advice on all sorts of projects will be sorely missed.Glen's other love was singing. He shared his gift of music at many weddings, funerals and church. It was even reported that he sung under anesthesia once. He was currently a member of the United Baptist-Christian Church of Lewiston and a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and the former First Christian Church of Niagara Falls.Glen will be remembered as a gregarious, fun-loving, Christian man, who lived a simple, yet rich life.Glen is survived by one son, Scot (Lynn) Hewitt of Lewiston, NY; one daughter, Patricia Hewitt of Niagara Falls, NY; and two grandsons, Mackenzie and Evan Hewitt, both of Lewiston, NY. He is also survived by two brothers, Mark (Trudy) Hewitt of Estes Park, CO, and Ronald (Shirley) Hewitt of Henniker, NH; two sisters, Susan Hewitt of Niagara Falls, NY, and Laurie (Jon) Hexemer of Youngstown, NY; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenie will be sadly missed by his dear friend, Gail.Friends may call on Saturday, May 30th from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, LASALLE PARK CHAPEL, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, June 7th at 2:00 PM at the United Baptist-Christian Church, 4800 Creek Road, Lewiston, NY.
