BERGEN-The Rev. Harry H.
Bergen passed away at the home
of his son. Robert H Bergen,
290 N. Harris Hill Road,
Williamsville, N. Y. Monday, August
9, 1954. He leaves his wife,
Alice (nee Calvert) two sons,
Robert H. of Williamsville. Jay
H. and two grandchildren, Donald
J. and Mark L. of Stamford,
Conn., one sister. Miss Laura
Bergen of Cooperstown, N. Y
one brother, the Rev. Stanley V.
Bergen of Philadelphia, Pa. Rev.
Bergen was recently pastor of
First-Congregational Church at
Walton, N. Y. and formerly of
Plymouth C o n g r e g a t i o n al
Church at Loekport Friends

o'clock and 7 to 9 o'clock and
Wednesday until noon at Prudden
and Kandt Funeral Home,
242 Genesee Street. Funeral
services will be held at Plymouth
Congregational Church
Wednesday afternoon, August
11th at two o'clock. Interment
will be In Cold Springs Cemetery.

Minister of Plymouth Congregational
Church for IS years and
a frequent visitor to Lockport
since leaving to 1940, the Rev.
Harry H. Bergen, 70, died Monday
afternoon at 4 o'clock at the
home of his son, Robert H. Bergen,
290 North Harris Hill Road,
Williamsville. where he had been
staying since April 29.
Mr. Bergen served the Lockport
church from 1925 to 1940, leaving
here to accept a call to First
Congregational Church, Walton, of
which he was minister until forced
to retire by illness the first of the
year.
PROMINENT MASON
A prominent Mason, he was assistant
grand lecturer of Delaware-
Sullivan Masonic District,
past master of Walton Lodge 559,
F&AM, and past high priest of
Delaware Chapter 251, Royal Arch
Masons. He joined the Masons in
June 1922, became a Master Mason
to October of the same year
and received the Royal Arch Mason
Degree In Jane 1948. Mr.
Bergen was a former honorary
member of Lockport Kiwanis Club
and served as secretary of the
Walton Club for five years.
Mr. Bergen was born Nov. S,
1884 to Laurel Hills. Pa., the son
of the Rev. Sylvester S. and Sallie
Alderson Bergen. He was a graduate
of Bellville (Pa.) High School,
Juniata College, Huntington. Pa.,
Washington and Jefferson College,
Washington, Pa., and Western
Seminary. Pittsburgh. He was ordained
May 21. 1912.
During his 42 years In the ministry,
he served seven churches:
Presbyterian Church, Delroy, O.,
and New Harrisburg, Pa., 1912-
14; Presbyterian Church, Denison,
O., 1914-15; Presbyterian Church,
Cambridge, O., 1915-18; South
Presbyterian Church, Cleveland,
1919-25; Plymouth Church. Lockport,
1925-40; First Congregational,
Walton, 1940-54.
SERVICES TOMORROW
He is survived by his wife, Alice
Calvert Bergen, Whom he married
Dec. 18, 1928 following the
death of his first wife, the former
Ethel Marie Schwam, Nov. 16,
1927 hi Lockport. Besides his son,
Robert, he also leaves another
son, Jay H. Bergen and two grandsons,
Donald John and Mark Lee
Bergen, all of Stamford, Conn., a
sister. Miss Laura A. Bergen,
Cooperstown, and a brother, the
Rev. Stanley V. Bergen, Philadelphia.

to 5 o'clock and 7 to 9 o'clock
and tomorrow until noon at Prudden
and Kandt Funeral Home, 242
Genesee St. Services will be held
tomorrow at 2 o'clock at Plymouth
Church, the Rev. Darrel J. Westlake,
minister, officiating. Burial
will be in Cold Spring Cemetery
