- Lee C. Horn, Sr,. of Wilson, NY, and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on December 11, 2021, after a brief illness, with his family at his side. Born May 22, 1947, Lee was the son of the late Oscar and Lillian Horn.
Lee retired from Harrison Radiator/Delphi after more than 40 years, where he was a Millwright. He was a member of the Punta Gorda Elks, Past Commander of The United States Power Squadron Lockport District, a Past Commodore at Olcott Yacht Club as well as a very active member of Island Yacht Club in Wilson, where he was serving on the Board of Directors at the time of his passing. He was an avid boater who loved to travel and make new friends along the way.
Lee and his wife, Joanne, spent six years living aboard their boat full time, traveling between NY and Florida on the ICW, and during that time completed the "Great Loop," which is a 6,000-mile water route that circumnavigates the eastern part of the U.S., and part of Canada. They also traveled the iconic Route 66 from start to finish, toured Hawaii, and Alaska, visiting 48 of our 50 States.
Lee most loved spending time with his family and his many wonderful friends. He always had a smile on his face and a helping hand to offer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joanne Horn; five children, Lee (Patricia) Horn, Jr. of Gasport, Lisa (Anthony) LaRose of Lockport, Lynette (Timothy) Shoaf of Springfield, Louisiana, Nathan (Helen) Raskopf of Raleigh, NC, and Adina (William) Neuman of Auburn; 14 grandchildren, Ashlee (Walter) Centner, Melodie (John) Lengen, Adrian (Jaime) Horn, Amber (Brian) Bunnell, Jessica Whitley (Michael Annalora), Mitchell (Amber) Weatherbee, Christopher (Candice) Shoaf, Tabetha and Nichole Shoaf, Maggie (Kyle) Jensen, Eleanor and Oliver Raskopf, Clara and Emily Neuman; 12 great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Jourdan Centner, Marlayna Lengen, Harlee Horn, Aiden and Levi Bunnell, Bryan Annalora, Caden and Austin Weatherbee, Malaya and Taelor Shoaf and Theodore Jensen; also survived by sisters, Jessie (Charles) Michel, and Margaret Taylor; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, Lee was predeceased by siblings, Mary Shaffer, Lillian Brainerd-Adams, Ruby Smith, Oscar "Bill" Horn, Howard Grose, and Theodore Grose.
Family will be present at 12:00 PM on Saturday June 18, 2022 at Island Yacht Club in Wilson, NY, to greet friends. There will be a Memorial Service starting at 1:00 PM officiated by Rev. Dr. Garry Seefeldt, followed by a Celebration of Lee's life and reception.Published on June 6, 2022
