THE TONAWANDAS —
Joyce (nee Miller) Wankasky, age 86, of Rochelle, Illinois, formerly of the Tonawandas, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Ina (nee Fullington) Miller and had been a resident of the Tonawandas for the greater part of her life. Mrs. Wankasky was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had cared for many foster children. She was the wife of the late Marlin P. Wankasky, who died in 1998; and mother of the late Tracey W. Wankasky.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (James) Stewart; two sons, David (Leeann) Wankasky and Jonathan Wankasky; four foster children, Leona, Jeffrey, Linda and Louise; three sisters, Melva Budnik, Nina Miller and Betty Miller; and three brothers, Rolland Miller, Michael Miller and Ronald Miller. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Sunday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday. Friends invited. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery. If desired, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are preferred.
