- Obituary for Rose Emily Sieracki (nee Karp)
ROSE EMILY KARP WINTER SIERACKI
Rose E. Sieracki, 91, of North Tonawanda, died peacefully on May 3, 2023 with her children at her bedside. She is survived by her son Rick (Peggy) Winter, son Ron (Joan) Winter, daughter Robin (Ray) Jasper, two step-sons, Victor and Mike Sieracki, several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Born in Niagara Falls, NY to Joseph and Rozalja Karp, she was predeceased by her parents, brothers Ted Malec, Al Malec, Hank Karp and Stan Karp, her stepÂdaughter Annette Sieracki, and her two husbands, Robert D. Winter and Victor J. Sieracki. The grandchildren, of whom she was so proud, include Elliott (Alicia) Winter, Nathan (Bridget) Winter, Daryl Klimecko, Austin Jasper, Colin Jasper, Rachel Winter and Lydia Winter. To them she was - and always will be - 'Babci'. Rose graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1949 before moving to Washington, D.C. to work for the Department of the Army. Upon her return to her hometown, she married an Airman from Ohio and raised a family before re-entering the work force. Rose was a long-time employee of Niagara County Community College as a typist in various departments, including Social Sciences, Security, Business, Fine Arts and Administration, prior to her retirement in 1988. One of her proudest achievements was to see her children and grandchildren begin their post-high school education at NCCC.
Rose loved to travel, play cards and cheer on the endeavors of her children and grandchildren. She could often be found at gymnastics meets, dance recitals, dinners with dignitaries or courtroom showdowns. She was always well-dressed and loved socializing, whether at the NCCC Gala, Sikora Post or at a political function, often in the company of her twin boys. Rose spent her 60s living alone in Florida before returning to NT about 15 years ago. She maintained an active lifestyle until she was felled by a stroke in 2018, after which she required nursing home care. The family is grateful to Rosa Coplon Jewish Home at Weinberg Campus for the care and concern shown by the staff during her four years there, allowing her to live out the remainder of her life with grace and dignity.
Friends may call Friday, May 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8 PM at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda. Memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM from St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda.
