PONTIAC, MI — Kathryn Margaret Wilson, (nee Reif), 94 years old, born March 3, 1916 in North Tonawanda, NY, died on February 24, 2011 in Pontiac, MI. She was the widow of James G. Wilson of North Tonawanda. Her parents were William Reif and Kathryn Peterman; both of her parents immigrated from Austria/Hungary in the early 1900’s.
Kathryn was predeceased by all her siblings, William (Pearl Profrock), Michael (Betty Monnett), infant, John, Mary Ann (Tony LaHood) and Margaret (Daryl Peters), all of North Tonawanda, NY. There are also several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children, Ann (Voisinet) of Lake Tahoe, CA, Nancy (Smith) of Commerce Township, MI, Arlene (Majors) of Algers, MI, Paul of Pontiac, MI, and David (deceased); grandchildren, Robert Voisinet (Margo Giacone), James Voisinet (Dawn Trump), John Voisinet (Sue Triebes), Linda Voisinet (Bob Delescale), Paul Voisinet (Kim Grunert), Diane Voisinet (Don Rocha), Steven Voisinet ((Sarah Bartz), Karen Voisinet, Kenneth Voisinet (deceased), Thomas Smith, Cory (Beth) Wilson, Casey Wilson; also 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Most of her life was spent in Michigan. After WW II, James Wilson settled his family in Pontiac, MI. Kathryn continued writing and publishing many articles, recipes and poetry. She also worked for several years for the state of Michigan School system.
The last 10 years were difficult for her as she had gone blind from detached retina and arthritis ravaged her body. All the while her mind was sharp enough to finish New York Times Cross Words with someone reading the clues to her. Now she rests easy and sees clearly.
Kathryn donated her body to science to Wayne State University, Warren, MI. There will be a memorial service later in Pontiac, MI. There will also be a Catholic Mass in San Jose, CA to celebrate her life, both dates unknown.
