- Melvin W. Wise, 90, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully in Niagara Hospice House on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Newton D. and Dorothy (Coleman) Wise.
Melvin graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1953 and honorably served with the United States National Guard. On August 17, 1957 he married his beloved wife, Blanche L. (Patterson) Wise.
Melvin was employed at Kimberly Clark and Harrison Radiator for many years prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a longtime member and former Sunday School Teacher at Colonial Heights Free Methodist Church, and also a faithful member of the Forestview Church of God.
Melvin\ was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, as well as fishing. He enjoyed collecting numerous model trains, lighthouses, clocks, windmills, and also loved to fly R.C. Model Airplanes.
Above all, Mr. Wise cherished the many memories made while spending time with his family.
Mr. Wise is survived by his two children, Patty (Vince) Gebczyk and Danny (Teresa) Wise; his grandchildren, Christina (Will) McQuillan, Alyssa (Andrew) Campbell and Kevin (Amber) Wise; his great-grandchildren, Madilyn Rose McQuillan, Olivia Mae McQuillan and Fletcher Daniel Wise; his treasured Meyer’s Parrot, Charlie, and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was sadly predeceased by his wife, Blanche on October 31, 2016, as well as his siblings, Bertha Wise, James (late Willa) Wise, Betty (late Victor) Jagow and Harold (Astrid) Wise.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 7 from 3 – 6:30 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 6:30 PM. Interment will be held privately in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14092.
