  The Evening News, December 26, 1931 H. J. Rosebrock is claimed by death Prominent North Tonawandan Succumbed This Morning at His Home on Payne Avenue Held Many Public Offices Funeral Monday Herman J. Rosebrock, one of North Tonawanda's best known citizens died this morning at his home on Payne avenue. His death followed a prolonged illness. He was born in Germany, coming to North Tonawanda at the age of 17 and continuing his residence here. He held a number of public offices, including alderman, supervisor and commissioner of public works. He was a staunch Democrat. For many years he was prominently identified with the Pioneers' association of Niagara county, having held different offices in the organization, including that of president. Helped Organize Church He was one of the founders of St. Matthew's church on Wheatfield street and had been active in its proceedings up to the time that illness made it impossible to give the church the benefit of his counsel. He is survived by three sons, William J., Herman J., Jr., and Albert; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and half an hour later at St. Matthew's church, Rev. Carl Frankenstein will conduct the services and Interment will be in the St. Matthew's cemetery.
