LOCKPORT — Franklin H. Dold passed away unexpectedly February 1, 2014. Born January 30, 1935 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Victor Franklin and Clara May (Wittcop) Dold. Franklin was a steel worker at Simonds Saw and Steel after its closure. He finished his working career at Frontier Stone, now LaFarge. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed family drives and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Franklin was the husband of the late Beverly Harding Dold. She passed away December 20, 1998. He was the father of Linda (Ron) Sementelli of Lockport, Clara LaRock of Lockport, Marilyn Meyer of Olcott, Gene (Sonya) Dold, Myra (Russ) Bratt, both of Pendleton, Joleen (Michael) Sommers of North Tonawanda, and the late Deborah, William and Charles Dold; grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of three. Franklin was also the brother of Nancy (the late David) Arkland, Jane (the late John) Demmin, Arlene Dold, Sandra (the late Rodney) Toenniessen, Susan Wheeler, Alice (Mark) Pfonner, Fred (Jessie) Dold, and the late Victor Dold, Esther Arkland and Gordon Dold; brother-in-law of Judy Dold and Allan Barnes. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials to St Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
