YOUNGSTOWN — Suzanne R. "Sue" (Burt) Janik, 57 years old, of Youngstown, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 23, 1954 in Niagara Falls, the daughter of Caroline (Schroeder) and the late Frederick Burt. "Sue," as she was affectionately called, attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
On January 19, 1980, Sue married Peter Janik at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. Everyone will remember Sue for her unique laugh. She was recently employed as a clerk at the Village Bake Shoppe in Lewiston.
In addition to her mother, Caroline (Schroeder) Knight, she is also survived by her husband of 32 years, Peter Janik; her daughter, Laura Janik of Brooklyn, NY; and her son, Matthew Janik of Youngstown. She is survived by her sisters, Cindy (Alan) Lusk of Youngstown, Wendy (Gerry) Laprade of Levittown, PA, and Carolyn (Paul) Davis of Niagara Falls; and her brothers, Kenneth (Cathy) Knight of Grand Island, John (Claudia) Knight of Niagara Falls, and William (Marcy) Knight of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; her father and mother-in-law, Matthew and Barbara Janik; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Kathy Janik, Kevin and Ann Janik, MaryJo and Tom Tartaglia and Cheryl and Paul Bombalicky. Sue was predeceased by her father, Frederick Burt, who passed away in 1964; and her second father, Ward Knight, who passed away in 1999. She was also predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Knight and her mother-in-law, Freida Janik.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 until 8 PM at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 356 Portage Road. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18th at Cleveland Avenue, with Rev. David C. Hoecker officiating. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bergholtz. Memorial contributions may be made to the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
