Whipple (Maerten), age 81, of North Tonawanda, May 18, 2014, under the loving care of the staff of Elderwood at Grand Island. She was a member of the Rescue Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and spending time with her family. Jean was the wife of the late John P. Whipple, who died in 2005. Beloved mother of Jacqueline (Thomas) Beckett of Madison, WI, and Jane (Paul Fronczak) Neumann of North Tonawanda. Sister of Betty Zuch of North Tonawanda and brother-in-law of James Whipple; aunt of several nieces and nephews. Also survived by many friends and her grand dogs. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM, The Rev. Karl Hauessler will officiate.
