Caroline Marten Czamanske Duerr age 95 of North Tonawanda, NY died peacefully on November 22, 2024 at home surrounded by her children.
Mrs. Duerr was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, the Honorable Robert K. Duerr, former City Court Judge of North Tonawanda, NY. She is survived by seven children: the Rev. Robert K. Jr. of North Tonawanda, Timothy (Lynn) of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Mary (Mark) Stettner of Milton, GA, Ruth (Randy) Ortiz of Rochester Hills, MI, Rebekah (Daniel) Stayner of Youngstown, NY, David (Marjorie) of Burr Ridge, IL, and Sarah (late Daniel) Anderson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren: Randy (Holly) and Joseph (Melissa) Ortiz; Joshua (Janelle) and Jacob Krupp; Noah and Benjamin Stayner; John and Hannah (Jack Blair) Stettner; William, Samuel and James Duerr; Abigail, Elizabeth and Matthew Anderson; and 7 great-grandchildren: Tripp, Emma, Jackson, Eleanor and Ezekiel Ortiz; Michael and Caroline Krupp; cherished sister and brother: Rebekah (late Joseph) Muscoreil of the Town of Tonawanda and Daniel (Luisa) Czamanske of Lake Waukomis, MO; also many nieces and nephews and beloved friends. She was predeceased by siblings Paul (Barbara) Czamanske, Ruth (Alson) Thomas, William Czamanske, and Mary Czamanske.
Caroline was born on August 24, 1929, in Winfield, Kansas, the eldest daughter of the late Rev. Paul W. and Lydia Marten Czamanske. Her father served as pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tonawanda, NY, during the 1970s.
A graduate of Wayne State University, Caroline was a gifted teacher who loved educating children at Immanuel Lutheran School in Valparaiso, IN and St. Mark Lutheran School in North Tonawanda. Over the years she was active in ministry at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church and The Fair Havens Church in North Tonawanda, and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tonawanda. She was always available for her family and friends, leaning on her faith in the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to provide guidance, support, comfort and love. She will be dearly remembered and missed.
A Funeral Service will take place in the sanctuary of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 107 Scott St., Tonawanda, NY, on Tuesday, December 3rd at 12:00 p.m. Friends may visit with the family in the Lorenz Fellowship Hall beginning at 10:00 a.m.
