Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 20, 1942; daughter of the late Norman and Irma (Schimschack) DeVantier. A graduate of Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School's first graduating class in 1960. Janet was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, in Wheatfield. She was a devout Christian with a passion for our Lord. Janet loved cooking, baking, crafts, spending time with her family, and loved all animals.Preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood "Woody" Herman in 2016. They were married on September 2, 1961. Survivors include three children, Darlene Herman of North Tonawanda, Jeffrey (Karen) Herman, and Debra Herman, both of Wheatfield; five grandchildren, David Bartlett Jr., Diana (Ernie) Hoover, Jennifer Bartlett, James Bartlett, and Emily Butski; four great-grandsons; a sister, Yvonne (late Morris) Ziehm; brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) DeVantier; and many nieces and nephews.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Monday - July 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Borgstede, on Tuesday - July 19, at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Captain JoAnn M. Klenner-Carey, age 57 of North Tonawanda, was called unexpectedly to her heavenly home, at her residence, on May 13, 2022. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 24, 1964; daughter of Werner and Carol (Jackson) Klenner. JoAnn graduated from Starpoint High School, with honors, in 1983. She earned her Master's Degree in Pharmacy at the University of Buffalo in 1987. JoAnn enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served until her retirement. She was a member of the former Sanborn Baptist Church, until its closing. JoAnn enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, bonfires, beaches. and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick Carey on November 27, 2012; father, mother in law, father in law, and a step-grandson, Karmeron Stenzel.Survivors include her mother, two brothers, Ray (Sandy) Klenner of Sanborn, and Dan (Kathy) Klenner of Maryland; three step-daughters, Colleen (fiance Alex) Stenzel, Chanel (Ramesh) Krishinan, and Carmel (Chris) Richter; four step-grandchildren, Mackenzie Stenzel, Jaden Reichter, Kirah and Klan Krishman; sister in law, Deens (Bob) Rose; brothers in law, Shaun (Lisa) Carey, Dennis (Diana) Carey; two aunts, Arlene (late Eugene) Decker, Sharon (late Joseph) Dunmire; an uncle, Paul (late Linda) Jackson; four nephews, Jeremy (Sarah) Klenner, Justin Klenner, Vern and Watson Klenner; and many cousins. Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road,(Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Thursday, July 21 from 4-7 p.m. Services will take place at 7:00 p.m. following visitation, with the Rev. Michael A. Keicher, officating. A private interment will take place in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice, or the Niagara County SPCA.
