Faber M. Gooding of Burt, NY, beloved husband of Lorraine "Tish" Smith Gooding, entered into rest on February 4th at Niagara Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Olcott on February 13, 1930, the son of William Faber and Pauline Matthews Gooding.
He married Lorraine "Tish" Gooding on February 21, 1955 and is the father of Susan (Daniel) Morey of Grand Island, NY, Peter (Julie) Gooding of Olcott, NY, Robert (Elaine) Gooding of Fairfax, VA, Richard (Stephanie) Gooding of Barker, NY and the Sally Reinhardt. Grandfather to Sean and Nathan Morey; Emily and Jacob Gooding; Matthew and Sara Reinhardt; Jeremy Lester and Betsy Bennett; Hayden, Maya, and Ella Gooding; and eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Brother of Pauline (Wesley) Wright of Burt, NY and the late Robert R. Gooding. Father-in-law of Butch Reinhardt of Newfane, NY.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951-1953 and worked at Harrison Radiator for 37 years. He then worked seasonally at Russell Farms in Appleton for over 20 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where he served as warden several times and was a lay leader for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Newfane Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife.
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY 14108 on SATURDAY from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The Funeral service will be held on SUNDAY 2:00 PM in St. Andrews Episcopal Church 2239 West Creek Rd. Burt, NY 14028. Burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials to St. Andrews Episcopal Church or Niagara Hospice House 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
