UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - Kennith C. Hewitt of University Place, WA, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014.
Ken was born April 28, 1929 to Alan and Lena Hewitt of Lewiston, NY. After growing up on the Hewitt dairy farm, Ken enlisted in the Army during WWII serving in post-war Japan. After returning from the service Ken married Louise "Ruth" Hewitt of Buffalo and they had three sons, Jay, Dane and Miles.
In 1971, the Hooker Chemical Company promoted and transferred Ken to Tacoma, WA. There the family became active members of The First Christian Church where Ken's greatest joy was singing in the church choir. In their leisure time Ken and Ruth were avid travelers and throughout their 58 years together they visited five continents and all 50 states.
Ken's beloved wife, Ruth, passed away in 2009 and he is survived by two older brothers, Richard (Lyn) of Kansas, Alfred of Niagara Falls, and by his three sons and their families. Internment services will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA on Friday, August 8th. Remembrances may be sent in Ken's name to The First Christian Church, 602 N. Orchard Street, Tacoma, WA 98406.
