- Ottavio “Tave” Rosini, age 74, of Niagara Falls, N. Y., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 26, 2016, surrounded by loved ones at Niagara Hospice House. Mr. Rosini was born November 18, 1941 in Niagara Falls, N. Y., to the late Livio Rosini and Yolanda (Alviti) (Rosini) Maura, and was the step-son of the late Angelo Maura.
Ottavio attended local schools, graduating from the former Trott Vocational High School in 1959. In 1965, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, and in 1968, a Master of Science in Education from the State University College at Buffalo. Mr. Rosini was a science teacher in the Niagara Falls School District for 33 years. In addition to his vocation as an educator, Ottavio also worked as a respiratory therapist at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital for many years, where he participated in pulmonary disease research, under the auspices of the late, Edward M. Cordasco, M.D.
In his youth, Ottavio persued a professional singing career, performing in both U.S. and Canadian nightclubs, including the former Glen Casino. During the 1990’s Mr. Rosini became involved in Niagara Falls’ politics, serving as a City and County Democratic Committeeperson; the City Committee’s Executive Board member; City Planning Board Chairman; a member of the Waterfront Development Commission; and past President of the Parkway Condominiums’ Board of Managers.
Tave is survived by the “love of his life” and companion of 23 years, Karen V. Haseley; her family, Tonya (Anthony, Sr.) Cunningham; Richard (Melissa) Haseley; and Roger Haseley. Affectionately known as “Grandpa Tave” to seven “chosen” grandchildren: Jalen, Anthony, Jr., Tiera, Bryanna, and Aaliyah Cunningham; Jasey Walker, Logan Haseley, and great-grand daughter, Leyla Marie White. Also survived by nieces, Rebecca Rosini and Kristin (David) DiVincenzo; three great nieces, Kathryn, Sara and Juliana DiVincenzo; sister-in-law, Marion Rosini; and step-brother, John (Carol) Maura.
Besides his parents and step-father, Mr. Rosini was predeceased by his wife, the former Carole Leszczynski, in 1987; and his brother, Constantino Rosini, in 1988.
In accordance with Mr. Rosini’s wishes, there will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, May 31st, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Rosini’s memory to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, N.Y 14094. Arrangements by M.J.
