  He settled in Rapid City, SD area in 1884. Was known as "VP." Was a successful business man. Vespasian P. "Vest" Shoun (1837-1926) married Nellie G. Timmons, but we do not know the date nor the place. Vest was a real pioneer of the west, along with his brother Solomon. He was a very large man, and as he reached his latter years, he built his own coffin, as there were no coffins that would fit his height and large frame. Vest and Nellie never had any children, but raised Solomon and Cornelia's children.
