Mrs. Jessie Hampson Bodamer,
78, church soloist, vaudeville
singer and child actress of bygone
days, died yesterday in Buffalo
General Hospital. She lived
at the Episcopal Church Home,
24 Rhode Island St.
As a child Mrs. Bodamer performed
the Little Eve role in
"Uncle Tom's Cabin." She also
appeared in stage productions
with Chauncey Olcott and with a
Shakespearean company headed
by William Barrett, British actor.
The former Jessie Hampson
then turned to the .udeville
stage as a singer, using the stage
name of Dorothy Bond. She captivated
Buffalo audiences with
her beautiful contralto voice in
appearances at the former Shea's
Court St. Theater.
After quitting the foolights,
she was a soloist at the central
Presbyterian Church when it
stood at Genesee and Pearl. Her
husband, Frank, died 17 years
ago.
Funeral services will be at 11
tomorrow morning in the Hutchinson
Memorial Chapel, adjoining
the Church Home. Burial will
be in Forest Lawn Chapel.
