Helen Caldwell

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Helen (Loades) Caldwell passed away October 7, 2011 in Colorado Springs, CO. Helen was born August 7, 1913, at home in Ridgeway, NY to Earl and Edith (Howlett) Loades. Four brothers preceded her, James, Ronald, Arnold and Milford. Helen married Walter W. Caldwell June 8, 1938, and lived most of her life in the Medina area.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Green and son-in-law to her, Hal Jaeke of Colorado Springs, CO; two granddaughters, Marni (Nathaniel) Kisergreen and Juli (Peter) Woodman Gould, also of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Nina Woodman and Orion Kisergreen added great joy to her life. Grandson, Christopher Green passed away April 10, 1985.
Following the death of her husband on January 29, 2000, Helen moved to Colorado Springs. Helen was a 78-year member of the Welcome Rebekah Lodge, 66-year member of the Medina Eastern Star, 61-year member of the Medina Methodist Church, 26-year member of the Sr. Citizens of Western Orleans, and a charter member of Ridgeway Volunteer Firemen Ladies Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed card games and was still playing pinochle at age 96. She loved to travel, visiting Spain, Alaska and most of the lower 48 states. As her eyesight failed, Helen looked forward to bookmobile visits where she was an avid listener to audio books.
