Gussie Panattoni Bartolomei, 87, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, October 30, 2015, in Marysville, CA. Gusmana Mary Panattoni was born in Castelvecchio, Italy. She was one of 6 children of Paolino and Aquilina Panattoni who came to America with her mother along with her brothers and sister, Leo, Anna, Mario and Ubaldo who already established their lives working in the coal mines, and a sister, Marie who was born in PA.
In 1948 she married Albert Joseph Bartolomei of Niagara Falls, NY, living here until 1952 and moving to Southern California where she raised 2 sons, Ronald and James .
Gussie retired in 1981 as a main cafeteria cook for the Conejo Valley Unified School District in Thousand Oaks, CA. At the same time as her husband, Al retired as an inspector for the Air Force working in the NASA space program. Upon retirement traveled all through 50 United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Al passed away in 1988. She also continued traveling the world with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, one sister and her husband. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Tricia Bartolomei of Newbury Park and Jim and Julia Bartolomei of Yuba City, CA. She leaves 3 adoring grandchildren, Vanessa Willems of Superior, CO, Michael Bartolomei of Wheatland, CA; and Tanya Dana of Las Vegas, NV and their respective spouses as well as her 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister, Marie Taylor and her husband, Tom of Hemet, CA; many nieces and nephews from all her siblings and her husband's siblings and Niagara Falls residents nephew, John Panattoni and Mario (deceased) and Gloria Panattoni and families; cousins, Dennis and Lena Panattoni and their families.
Gussie was loved and was an inspiration to all her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
A mass and celebration of Gussie's life will be held at 11:00 AM, January 25, 2016, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Moorpark, CA.
